Apollo Automobil, previously known as Gumpert Sportwagenmanufaktur, is a German supercar manufacturer founded in 2004.
Initially a small company consisting of 45 employees, the Gumpert apollo was their first produced car and it went on sale in 2005.
Originally founded by Roland Gumpert, a former director of Audi's Sport division, the company entered liquidation in August 2013 as a result of an unnamed backer pulling their funding from a deal that would have kept the company afloat.
In January 2016, the company was renamed to Apollo Automobil following its purchase by Ideal Team Venture, a Hong Kong based company.
