The 1997 Aston Martin DB7 is the predecessor of the DB9. With the DB7, the abbrevation DB, which stands for Sir David Brown, a businessman leading Aston Martin during the post-war era, was used again after 23 years.

The car is based on the Jaguar XJS platform. A convertible model, the DB7 Volante, was unveiled in 1996, and is the most sold variant of the DB7 line.

Many other variants of the DB7 were made as well, such as the high-performance V12 Vantage model and an even more powerful V12 GT/GTA model.

Shortly before the DB7 was replaced by the DB9, the DB7 Zagato and DB7 AR1 special editions were made in collaboration with Zagato, with 100 examples made of each.

Performance is exceptional for a car that offers such an outstanding level of luxury and refinement. The DB7 will rocket to 60 miles per hour in a scant 5.5 seconds, and top speed is 165 miles per hour.

All independent double wishbone suspension adds up to very agile handling at high speeds. Full leather and power everything completes the package, and buyers can even off for a full set of match leather luggage embossed with the Aston Martin logo that fits neatly in the DB7’s trunk.
