The Aston Martin DB7 is the predecessor of the DB9. With the DB7 the abbrevation DB, which stands for Sir David Brown a businessman leading Aston Martin during the post-war era, was once used again after 23 years.
The car is based on the Jaguar XJS's platform and was tweaked, so any resemblence to the XJS cannot be seen. A convertible version, the DB7 Volante, was unveiled in 1996 and is the most sold variant of the DB7 line.
Many other variants of the DB7 were made as well such as the high-performance V12 Vantage model and a even more powerful V12 GT/GTA model.
Shortly before the DB7 was replaced by the DB9, the DB7 Zagato was sold. This was merely a redesigned V12 DB7 from which 100 exemplars exist. The Volante DB7 also received a special edition model, which was the DB AR1.
Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit
The DB7 appears in Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit as a class C vehicle.
Compared to its class, the DB7 boasts with strong acceleration at the expense of handling when compared to the Jaguar XK8. The Mercedes-Benz SL 600 has better overall performance but is not available in pursuit mode, making the DB7 a good choice for pursuits.
The DB7 can be selected with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission, with the manual version offering better overall performance.
Need for Speed: High Stakes
The vehicle is available in Need for Speed: High Stakes as a class A vehicle. It is just as fast as seen in Hot Pursuit. The PC release features the DB7 as a download only vehicle although it is featured as part of the PlayStation release.
The DB7 can be selected with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission, with the manual offering better overall performance.
In the PC release, the DB7 is featured with slow steering and average acceleration.
