The 1975 BMW 3.0 CSL (Coupe Sport Leichtbau) (E9) is a homologation model designed for Group 2 and Group 5.

It's often referred to as the 'Batmobile' due to its appearance. The rear spoiler was included with the purchase of the car but it was not installed during production as its use was illegal on German motorways.

The CSL was a success in motorsport particularly in the European Touring Car Championship during the 1970's. Production began in 1972 and was ceased in 1975.

It is also the first and second BMW commissioned "Art Car." BMW commissioned the first car to be created by Alexander Calder and the second was created by Frank Stella.

The driving behaviour of the 3.0 CSL is similar to that of the BMW M3 Sport Evolution. Steering is responsive and remains to be so even during excessive cornering. Nitrous boost, acceleration and top speed are also nearly identical to the E30. Its top speed is 188 mph (303 km/h).
