The 2017 BMW M4 Convertible (F83) is 2-door convertible developed and manufactured by BMW.

Announced in March 2014, the M4 convertible shares almost the entirity of its components with the M4 coupé, aside from the metal folding roof.

Fitted with a 3.0-litre inline-6 engine developed by BMW's M Motorsport division, the engine was built with the F82 M4 and the F80 M3, with the overall purpose to outperform the previous V8 fitted into the E92 M3.

The engine is designed to take advantage of the linear power delivery of a naturally aspirated engine and the advantages of forced induction with BMW's TwinPower Turbo technology, a new integration of variable valve and camshaft timing around a twin-turbocharger setup.

Compared to the coupé, the convertible has the same engine producing a similar amount of power and torque, as well as the same suspension setup, and the same carbon fibre reinforced plastic materials. The only difference is the added weight with the three-piece folding metal roof, which adds up to 245 kg (540 lbs) of mass, although the amount added differs depending on the fitted gearbox.
