The 1999 BMW M Coupe is a shooting brake variant of the BMW Z3 2.8i that was manufactured alongside the Z3 M Roadster.
Both the North American models of the M Coupe and BMW M3 (E36) used S52 inline-six engines, which were less powerful variants of the S50 inline-six engines used by European models.

Description
“ | Call it "a no-compromises pledge to sports motoring". With its 3.2-litre 321 horsepower high-tech straight six engine from the BMW M division, the BMW M Coupé might just be the ultimate machinery for transporting two people and their luggage on fast transcontinental grand touring trips. The M Coupé is a remarkable adaptation of the Z3 roadster and a brand new interpretation of the Gran Tourismo concept - one with power, passion, and a desire to be driven... hard. To resurrect an entire class of cars - the classic GT - took heart, soul, a fixation on the future, and a glance into the past. Designed in the tradition of the Jaguar E-Type, Aston Martin DB2 and Bristol 400, and inspired by the legendary BMW 328 Mille Miglia (pronounced mil-mil-ee-ah) Coupé, the M Coupé is a thoroughbred GT. The concept is simple: hard suspension, a long front, a short rear and two seats barely above the asphalt. Together with the powerful, forward-thrusting M engine, the M Coupé moves two passengers and their adrenaline like none other. With these M ingredients, a place in automotive history is virtually guaranteed for the BMW M Coupé. |
