The 1956 Chevrolet Corvette (C1) is the first generation of the Corvette sports car, which was introduced by Chevrolet in 1953.
The 1956/1957 model year revision featured a new body with roll up windows, a more substantial convertible top compared to the 1955 model, and the straight-six engine was dropped for a 4.3L V8 coupled with a 3-Speed Manual transmission.
In 1957, the engine was upgraded for a 4.6L V8, and a 4-Speed Manual transmission would also be offered. Chevrolet sold 3,467 examples of the car between 1956 to 1957 before it went through another facelift in 1958.
