A Circuit Race is a lap-based race event that has its starting and finishing point set on the same location. Circuit races appear in every Need for Speed title except Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (2010), Need for Speed: The Run and Need for Speed: Rivals. In Need for Speed: ProStreet, circuit races are known as Grip events.

Special Events[]
- Endurance Race - Circuit events with a high number of laps in the Shift series.
- Lap Knockout Race - Players will be eliminated from the race if they are in the last position of a lap.
- Time Knockout Race - Players will be eliminated from the race if they are unable to complete the circuit event under a specific time limit.
- Street X - Narrow enclosed race courses featured in Need for Speed: Underground 2.
- Underground Racing League - Enclosed race courses featured in Need for Speed: Underground 2.
