Template:InfoboxCar2The 1971 Dodge Challenger R/T (Road/Track) could be equipped with a large array of V8 engines including a 426cu HEMI V8, which was one of the most powerful motors besides the "Six Pack" 440cu V8. In 1972, the 1971 Challenger R/T underwent a minor facelift.

Need for Speed: World

Template:NFSWlink The Challenger R/T was added on June 27th, 2010 during the final Beta stage of Need for Speed: World as a Tier 1 vehicle. Since August 22nd, 2012, it has been featured as a 'E' and 'D' Class vehicle.

The standard Challenger R/T has a 175 overall rating and can be purchased for Dollar icon125,000 at the beginning of the title. It is also available with pre-installed Amerikon Speedsystems Street Tuned parts. This version has a 303 overall rating and costs SpeedBoost800.

The Challenger R/T is the most unbalanced starter vehicle, since it has the worst handling due to a slow steering and a weak acceleration. It also has a poor nitrous boost but makes it up with an average top speed of 131 mph (212 km/h).

Special Variants

The "Unite" is a D Class one-day rental version of the Challenger R/T with a 308 overall rating. It is fitted with performance parts, a body kit and has a purple and white paint job. It is rentable SpeedBoost80.

Shift Series

The Dodge Challenger R/T is only available in the free Team Racing Pack DLC for Need for Speed: Shift. The pack includes the vehicle as a Tier 2 car with a 5.10 car rating.

It is already featured in the main release of Shift 2: Unleashed. The Challenger R/T has a performance index rating of C 515 and 3.07 handling rating. It appears in this title as a Muscle Legends Road car with a price tag of $41,000.

The Challenger R/T is depicted in both games with typical classic American muscle driving traits. Its fast acceleration is due to the torquey HEMI V8 engine, which has a high displacement and weight. This can affect its handling by making it unpredictable and somewhat hard to control.

Special Variants

In the Speedhunters Pack DLC for Shift 2: Unleashed, a Speedhunters variant of the Challenger R/T is featured. It is powered by the V10 engine of the Dodge Viper SRT-10.

Its performance rating is A 1850 whilst its handling rating is 5.75. With a 0 to 100 km/h time of 3.17 seconds, the Speedhunters Challenger is one of the fastest accelerating cars in the game.

Need for Speed: The Run

The Dodge Challenger R/T appears in Need for Speed: The Run as a Tier 1 vehicle, which is unlocked upon beating ten objectives in the Muscle Car playlist.

Its 426cu V8 produces only 350 bhp at 5,000 rpm in The Run. 0 to 60 mph is achieved in 6 seconds, which is good for a tier 1 car. Top speed is 137mph (224km/h). It can compete with other classic American cars well but may suffer from oversteer in corners due to its "Very Difficult" handling rating.

Special Variants

The Challenger R/T also appears as a Tier 4 vehicle in a "NFS Edition" trim.

This variant is obtainable after beating ten group objectives in multiplayer. The NFS Edition has 636 bhp at 5,000rpm and a top speed of 188mph (303km/h). Its handling is rated the same as the stock version.

The NFS Edition is overall an average tier 4 car. It doesn't really stand out in any certain performance aspect except for acceleration. Its performance is comparable to that of other muscle cars like the 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 302.

A "Vanish" signature Edition is unlocked upon beating 10 multiplayer objectives in the Classic Car Racing Weekly Playlist.
