The 1997 Ferrari 355 F1 Spider (F129) is an open-top variant of the Pininfarina-styled Ferrari 355 F1 Berlinetta, and features an electronically-operated semi-automatic soft top.
It is powered by a 375 bhp V8 with five valves per cylinder, and as part of the 355 F1 models introduced by Ferrari in 1997, the 355 F1 Spider was fitted with a Formula One style paddle gear shift electrohydraulic manual transmission, allowing the driver to not have to take their hands off of the steering wheel whilst changing gears.

Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit[]
The 355 F1 Spider appears in the PC release of Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit as a Class B vehicle, opposed to the 355 F1 Berlinetta in the PlayStation release.
Its quick acceleration, combined with its agility, make it a competitive car in its class, and it is also capable of a high top speed due to the six-speed transmission. As other Ferrari and Mercedes vehicles, it is not allowed in Hot Pursuit mode.
Description
“ | Most auto enthusiasts agree that if there is one way to make a great car better is to take off the top, and that's exactly what Ferrari did to create the 355 Spider F1. With its dramatic, tastefully restrained Pininfarina styling, it succeeds a long line of V8-powered Ferraris, from the original 308 to the most recent 348. The 355 is the company's most affordable product, but it's still very much a Ferrari in both looks and performance. The powerplant is a highly advanced 3.5 liter V8 boasting five valves per cylinder and double overhead cams, it develops a stirring 375 horsepower providing very snappy performance in a car that tips the scales at just under 3000 pounds. The 355 gets its F1 designation from an advanced 6-speed sequential transmission, which operates as a semi-automatic using shifting paddles on the steering wheel just like a Ferrari Formula One race car. The V8 and its gearbox are mounted just after the cockpit, and this location gives the 355 F1 extraordinary balance and weight distribution. This translates into superb handling, in fact, one major US auto magazine rated the 355 F1 the quickest car through a slalom they ever tested. Extra body stiffening maintains rigidity in the convertible model, and even the car’s underside is smooth for maximum aerodynamic efficiency. Straight line performance matches handling - the sleek and compact Ferrari 355 Spider F1 will top 60 miles per hour in a brisk 4.6 seconds, and top speed is an equally impressive 183 miles per hour. |
