The 2000 Porsche Carrera GT Concept is a concept car manufactured by Porsche, and unveiled at the 2000 Geneva Motor Show.

The car's development is directly tied to Porsche's 5.5L V-10 engine program originally planned for a Le Mans prototype for the 1999 season, the LMP2000. The endurance project would be eventually scrapped, and the engine repurposed for the Carrera GT supercar prototype.

Two prototypes were built, with one being fully functional. Gearbox and suspension components were shared with the GT1-98, the space frame chassis was comprised of high-strength aluminum and the car was fitted with ABS and 15-inch carbon ceramic brakes behind newly designed center-lock, aluminum 19 and 20 inch wheels.

A full production variant based on the concept would be produced between 2004 and 2007, having the V-10's displacement upgraded to 5.7L, as well as revised design.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2[]

The 2000 Carrera GT Concept appears in Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2. It is classified in the second highest performance tier in any release of the game and is restricted to racers only.

The car can be unlocked in the PlayStation 2 release after the player completes Championship event #26 - Point-to-Point Knockout. The NFS edition is unlocked upon earning a total of 3,500,000 NFS Points.

Other releases of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 require the player to earn 30,000 NFS Points to unlock the stock edition and 60,000 NFS Points for the NFS edition.

The Carrera GT has a superior handling compared to the Lamborghini Diablo VT 6.0 and Lamborghini Murciélago but worse acceleration as well as a lower top speed. Nevertheless, it is a better contender than the Porsche 911 Turbo in most Porsche events.
