The 1995 Ferrari F50 (F130) is a mid-engined range-topping sports car made by Ferrari. The F50 was introduced in 1995 to celebrate the company's 50th anniversary, succeeding the previous celebration model, the Ferrari F40.

Styled by Pininfarina, the car is a two door, two seat convertible with a removable hardtop, and reportedly, only 349 units of the F50 were produced.

Its body has extensive use of sophisticated composite materials made with F1-style construction technology, incorporating rubber fuel cells within the structure, and having engine and transmission bolted directly into the carbon fibre chassis, making this assembly an integral structural component of the F50.

It has a mid-mounted, 65-degree 4.7L naturally aspirated 60-valve V12 engine that was developed from the 3.5L V12 used in the 1992 Ferrari F92A Formula One car.

Games[]

Need for Speed II[]

The F50 appears in Need for Speed II. Available from the beginning, it is notable for having strong acceleration, and balanced performance overall.

In the Special Edition re-release it is grouped in Class A alongside the Ford GT90, Lotus GT1 and McLaren F1.

Description

In keeping with its racing heritage and commemorating 50 years of Ferrari history, the Formula One-inspired F50 represents a long line of automotive excellence and achievement.

This stallion from the Ferrari stables is a two-seat Formula One race car with very few compromises to make it street-legal. Based on the Ferrari 333 SP, its composite carbon fiber body and 513 horsepower engine allows it to reach 60 miles per hour in a blistering 3.7 seconds.

The F50's striking personality also affords some innovative design features - with its Berlinetta detachable rooftop, this car can be driven as either a coupe or a spider. It is also the first production car to have the engine and transmission bolted directly to the carbon fiber chassis, making this assembly an integral structural component of the F50.

With an extremely seductive look and a top speed of 202 miles per hour, the F50 is clearly the prize thoroughbred of the Ferrari lineup.

Need for Speed: High Stakes[]

The F50 appears in Need for Speed: High Stakes as an class AA vehicle in the PC release and as class 2 in the PlayStation release. It has a price tag of $225,000 and is available from the beginning of the game in both releases.

The F50 is featured with an open top in the PC release and appears with a closed roof in the PlayStation release.

Description

Ferrari’s awesome F50 has been described as a street-legal Formula One racer, and that title isn't too far from the truth. It's based closely on the racer that won six F1 events in 1990.

Driving the dramatically styled F50, its reinforced carbon fiber bodywork and mid-mounted V12 is the closest you'll get to riding in a Ferrari Grand Prix car.

The superbly hand-built 4.7 liter 12 cylinder uses state-of-the-art technology to develop a massive 513 horsepower. A six-speed close-ratio manual transmission distributes power to extremely wide rear wheels. The car is exceptionally fast, with a top speed that could only be exploited on the track.

Huge ventilated disc brakes made by the same company that supplies the Ferrari F1 team keep all the power under control.

The F50 cockpit is all business, and follows Ferrari’s policy of avoiding gimmickry and concentrating on driver essentials. All the controls are exactly where they should be, allowing the driver to concentrate on piloting this remarkable supercar.

The Maranello automaker has built many superb sports cars since Enzo Ferrari founded the company back in the 1940s, but none have quite matched the amazing F50.
