The 1973 Volkswagen Beetle 1303 (Type 1) is a rear-engine economy car from Volkswagen.

In the early 1970s, Volkswagen introduced improvements for the Beetle, including suspension with new MacPherson struts as well as body redesign with a longer and more round front, improving luggage space and offering greater overall utility and comfort.

Known as the "Super Beetle" in the United States, the first version of the revised car would be the Beetle 1302, made available from 1971 to 1972 model years, until the introduction of the Beetle 1303 in 1973.

The 1303 included "Elephant Foot" style rear lights and wing-top turn signals, as well as chrome bumpers, a vented deck lid, and curved windshield fitted to the 1973 revision.[2]

The 1303 was made available from 1973 to 1975 model years, with cabriolets being produced until 1980.
