"Follow The Law" is a Campaign Story mission in Need for Speed: Heat.

It is the twelfth mission of the Campaign Story, and the third mission of chapter 3.

Following Ana and the player meeting with Eva Torres, they're given a location in Port Murphy to investigate.

Completing the mission will progress the player to "Party Crashers", the fourth and final mission of chapter 3 in the Campaign Story.

Prerequisite

Before the player can start the mission, they must be at REP LVL 19 or higher and have completed the previous mission from Ana: "Proposition".

The mission recommends the player use a car with a 240 performance rating or higher and a grippy setup for on-road.

Mission preparation

Ana Okay, I just got her message, looks like this place is by the port. Meet you there when you're ready. Player Where are you going? Ana I wanna find out anything I can on Torres. We need to know who we're dealing with here. Player From who? Ana No idea. Whoever it is they wanna meet. Player Think it's safe? Ana They picked a parking lot North of the beach. Means there'll be plenty of people. Even so, think you could - Player I'm in. Ana Thanks. See you there.

Port Murphy

"Glad I let that go to voice mail"

Location

The start location for the mission is in Port Murphy.

Synopsis

The player meets up with Ana at a location in Port Murphy given to them by Torres.

As the player and Ana stake out the location given by Torres, Ana receives a voice mail from Jordyn and she isn't pleased with the attention Ana and the player are getting from taking down Danny Shaw.

They agree they should try and keep the attention for as long as possible as it'll help their chances of getting into The League.

Ana Glad I let that go to voice mail - it was Jordyn, and she's p-issed. Player What did we do? Ana Taking out Shaw's big news, it's all anyone's talking about. Spotlight's on us now. Player Let's make sure it stays there. Ana Hell yeah. Player Hey, coming up on the right.

Follow The Law (Part 1)

Shadow the cop car and see what they're up to (Part 1)

Objective

Follow the target PCPD Ford Crown Victoria patrol car without making them too suspicious.

Failure

The player will fail the objective if they lose the target car or reach 100% suspicion.

Synopsis

The player and Ana follow a PCPD patrol car around Port Murphy as it meets another PCPD patrol car in the container yard and a High-Speed Task Force Corvette.

Following target
Ana So, we're really tailing a cop. Player What could go wrong. Ana A lot. A lot could go wrong. Player That text say anything about where we're tailing this cop to? Ana Nope. Guess we're gonna find out. Hopefully not die trying.
Cop enters container yard
Ana I think he went into the container yard.
Entering container yard
Ana Dunno about you but this doesn't look like the type of place to hand out parking tickets.
Approaching hand off
Ana Whoa-whoa-whoa. Stop here. Player What are they doing? Ana Looks like our boy just had some keys tossed to him.
Completed hand off
Ana We go forward they're gonna see us. Try backing up, go the way we came.
Leaving container yard
Player You manage to find out anything on Torres? Ana Not much. Only she's part of Mercer's unit and they been doing this shit for a while now. Just lately it's gotten out of control. Player Maybe she's telling the truth? Ana We'll see.
Passing container cranes
Ana I wonder how you get started doing that stuff. Player Money. Status. Ana Sounds familiar.

Park Here

Objective

Park in the highlighted spot without arousing the suspicion of the target PCPD Ford Crown Victoria patrol car.

Synopsis

The target PCPD Ford Crown Victoria patrol car approaches a High-Speed Task Force Chevrolet Corvette Interceptor.

The player and Ana have to park their car to avoid suspension as the meeting takes place. After the Corvette drives away, so does the Crown Victoria.

Failure

The player will fail the objective if they reach 100% suspicion or leave their parking spot until the target has passed them.

Objective

Follow the target PCPD Ford Crown Victoria patrol car without making them too suspicious.

Synopsis

The player and Ana continue following a PCPD patrol car around Port Murphy until it arrives at a nearby lockup.

Failure

The player will fail the objective if they lose the target car or reach 100% suspicion.

Ana Looks like he's stopping at the lockup. Pull over and wait.

Follow The Law (Part 2)

Keep on the Ferrari's tail and see where it goes

Objective

Follow the target custom Ferrari F40 without making them too suspicious.

Failure

The player will fail the objective if they lose the target car or reach 100% suspicion.

Synopsis

The player and Ana follow a PCPD patrol car to a lockup in Port Murphy, and find them taking out a custom Ferrari F40 for a drive. They decide to follow it and figure out what Torres wants them to find.

The Ferrari leaves Port Murphy and heads to a warehouse in east Frontera Hills.

Following Ferrari F40
Ana I think I know the owner of this F40. Player You do? What happened? Ana She got the same deal as me. Thing gets impounded then it vanishes. No records, nothing.
Leaving Port Murphy
Ana Look at this asshole, driving this thing like it's his. Player The owner ever report it? Ana That goes missing same as the car. It's our word against theirs. And our word don't mean shit around here.
Approaching warehouse junction
Ana It's taking a left down that road. Keep tailing but slow down.
Approaching warehouse
Ana Pull up here. Yeah, this totally looks legit. Player Let's find out.

Chop Shop

Synopsis

Ana and the player discover the High-Speed Task Force has been stealing cars from racers and stripped of their parts to be resold.

Transcript

Ana The cars in here must be worth a fortune. Player I've raced against some of these. Ana What are they doing here? Holy shit... this is big. Player Like 'trunk fulla money' big. Ana That's not... Mother fu- Player Easy. Ana What the hell?! Player So much for getting your car back. Ana Bastards! Cop You should've seen his face last night when I loaded it on the truck, thought he was gonna cry. Worker Frank would've loved that. Ana Okay, I'm with Torres. Screw Mercer - this needs to stop. Player If we're doing this, we need a plan. Ana We'll figure something out.

Rewards

Completing the mission rewards the player with 20,000 and 8,000.

• In the chop shop, a silver BMW M3 GTR (E46) can be seen on the back of the tow truck.
