The 1957 Ford Thunderbird (Gen. 1) is a two-seater car unveiled by Ford at the 1954 Detroit Auto Show and introduced for the 1955 model year.
In its debut year, it was offered with fender skirts and a removable fiberglass top as standard equipment, with a fabric convertible top as a commonly specified option.
The 1957 model year revision has a reshaped front bumper, grille and tailfins were made larger, larger taillights, and redesigned trunk.
In the same year, the 312 cubic inch (5.1L) V8 rated at 245 hp (183 kW) became the standard engine, with more powerful versions also available, including one with two four-barrel Holley carburettors and another with a Paxton supercharger rated at 300 hp (224 kW).
