Units in the vehicle fleet of the Lakeshore Police Department (LPD) are used to apprehend suspects actively associated with illicit street racing.
With differing capabilities, they are employed by the LPD in pursuits to apprehend suspects. The types of units engaged in pursuit differs depending on a suspect's "Heat Level" and available units.
In pursuits, the fleet of units deploy available equipment and pursuit tactics as part of an effective response to a varying requirement of force.
Any unit can initiate a chase upon confirming they have visual of a suspect's car with a Heat Level of 1 or higher, although a pursuit can be initiated by colliding with a police unit without having any Heat.
The amount of time required to confirm a visual depends on the unit type, with higher Heat associated units able to acquire a confirmation of visual contact and thus triggering a pursuit.
