The Mazda RX-7 Spirit R (Type A) is a limited edition trim released as part of the FD's final year of production, and was only made available in Japan, making it exclusively right-hand drive.
Spirit R RX-7s were released by Mazda in three different type variations: A, B, and C. A is a 2 seater with a 5-speed manual gearbox, B is a 2+2 seater with a 5-speed manual gearbox, and C is a 2+2 seater with a 4-speed automatic gearbox.
The Spirit R trim was limited to 1,500 units and ran from April 2002 to August 2002; of which 1,000 Type A variants were made with Type B and C variants making up the remaining 500 produced. 700 of those produced were adorned in an exclusive body colour - Titanium Grey.
Components equipped to the Spirit R Type A include forged 17" BBS wheels, Bilstein suspension components, Recaro red bucket seats, red brake calipers, an adjustable spoiler, and drill vented disc brakes.

Need for Speed: Payback
The RX-7 Spirit R Type A was confirmed to appear in Need for Speed: Payback following a brief appearance in the Welcome to Fortune Valley trailer[1] released on September 26, 2017.
The RX-7 Spirit R Type A, however, was not available for use on release, and was only made available as an Abandoned Car with the Speedcross Update[2] on December 19, 2017.

It is unlocked for purchase from the drag, drift, off-road, race, and runner class dealerships upon successfully delivering it to Rav at his airfield during its rotation period as an abandoned car.

Need for Speed: Heat
The RX-7 Spirit R appears in Need for Speed: Heat following its brief appearance in the official reveal trailer, which was released on August 14, 2019,[3] and appears in the NFS: Heat Studio app as part of container 2, which was released on August 27, 2019.
