The 2017 Mercedes-AMG GT R (C190) is a high-performance grand-tourer developed and manufactured by Mercedes-AMG.
The GT was first shown on April 16, 2014, except only its interior was revealed, but was later showcased in full at the 2014 Paris Motor Show the following October. Fitted with a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 456 bhp (340 kW) and 443 ft·lb (601 N·m), it went on sale in April 2015.
In October 2016, the GT C Roadster debuted at the Paris Motor Show. In January 2017, the GT was shown at the Detroit Motor Show with a facelifted design including an AMG Panamericana grille derived from the GT3 race car, and produces additional power over the earlier model years.
At the Goodwood Festival of Speed in June 2016, the GT R was revealed with a tuned 4.0-litre V8 engine, adjustable coil over springs, an adjustable rear spoiler, and an improved traction control system with nine settings. It went on sale in November 2016 and was the official Formula 1 safety car for the 2018, 2019, and 2020 seasons.
A Roadster variant went on sale in June 2018 and the high performance GT Black Series went on sale in early 2021.
