While production of the W463 G-Class began in 1990, it was not made available for purchase in the United States of America until 2002. Base G 500 models were fitted with anti-lock brakes, a full four-wheel drive system with electronic differentials, and a luxurious wood with leather interior.
In 2012, multiple trims were added to the G-Class model range including the G 63 AMG alongside the G 65 AMG. The G 63 AMG includes a 7G-Tronic transmission, an AMG sports exhaust, and adjusted suspension to improve handling. Also fitted to the G 63 is a twin-turbocharged V8 instead of the regular naturally aspirated V8.
