The 1980 Mercedes-Benz Unimog (U 404 S) is a multi-purpose mid-sized truck produced by German car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz.
It was developed soon after World War II as a self-propelled farm machine. It is equipped with power take-offs, a permanent AWD system and equal-sized tyres so it could travel at a higher speed on the road than tractors. It also has a 280 horsepower V6 engine.

The Unimog appears in Need for Speed II as a traffic vehicle in two variants, which can be driven by the player upon entering a cheat code:
- Army variant
- "armyme" in the PlayStation release
- "armytruck" in the PC release
- "go31" or "go36" in Need for Speed II: Special Edition
- Snow variant
- "snowme" in the PlayStation release
- "snowtruck" in the PC release
- "go33" or "go36" in Need for Speed II: Special Edition
Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit[]
The Unimog appears in all releases of Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit as a traffic vehicle. In the PC release, it can be driven by players upon entering the cheat codes "go03" or "go21" when starting a race.
In the PC release, it is used in split-screen Knockout, if one of the players is eliminated.
Need for Speed: High Stakes[]
The Unimog appears in the PlayStation release of Need for Speed: High Stakes as a traffic vehicle in army and log truck variations.
