This soundtrack is used for Need for Speed: High Stakes. Reintroducing non-interactive racing music in the series, songs are mostly credited to composers Rom di Prisco and Saki Kaskas, with the addition of licensed songs which can be heard during races.

A CD compilation album was released on April 12, 1999 titled Need for Speed: High Stakes (The Album).
