Cars featured in Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered can be driven by both cops and racers.
Each car featured is categorised by its performance capability into one of five ranked tiers and is given a series or unit that represents its usage as either a racer vehicle or an SCPD interceptor.
Gameplay[]
Car Tiers[]
Equipment[]
Equipment, or weapons, are offered to both cops and racers in Seacreast County. Each side has a differing selection of options available but all can be upgraded with successful usage.
Health[]
Health shows the amount of damage the player's vehicle can withstand and is shown as a red bar with a red wrench icon to the right of the tachometer in the bottom-right corner of the HUD. Players can not regain health during an event.
Anything that reduces the player's health and causes damage is shown in the bottom-right corner of the HUD with red text.
The health of a vehicle will diminish through collisions, being hit by equipment, and crashing. The player is notified when they are nearly out of health with a "Damage Critical" in the centre of the HUD and their view will be saturated alongside an emphasis on red tones.
If the player's health meter is depleted, they will be wrecked. A wrecked cop or racer will be eliminated from play during an online multiplayer session and can not respawn.
Nitrous[]
All cars are equipped with a nitrous system and can be used for a short boost of acceleration, but will recharge differently depending on if the car is a racer vehicle or an SCPD interceptor.
Anything the player does that refills their nitrous is shown in the bottom-right corner of the HUD with light blue text.
Cop[]
In an SCPD interceptor unit, nitrous will recharge over time when the car is driven at high-speed, when slipstreaming other vehicles, or by drifting. It will not recharge through dangerous driving maneuvers such as near misses and driving in oncoming.
Busting or wrecking a racer will instantly fill a nitrous bar.
Racer[]
In a racer car, nitrous will recharge through dangerous driving maneuvers such as near misses, driving in oncoming, drifting, or slipstreaming. It will not recharge by driving at high-speed.
Wrecking an SCPD interceptor unit will instantly fill a nitrous bar.
Busted[]
A racer can be busted in an event by an SCPD interceptor unit should both vehicles be stationary next to each other for a short period of time. This can occur if the player has crashed and an interceptor unit stops near their car or if the racer is brought to a halt by an interceptor unit.
A busted racer will be eliminated from play during an online multiplayer session and can not respawn.
