A Tollbooth event is a single-player game mode along an enclosed course featured in Need for Speed: Most Wanted.
Unlike other race events, tollbooth races aren't against any opponents. Each tollbooth event begins at a tollbooth and the player's objective is to reach the final tollbooth before running out of time. The player passes through other tollbooths along the way, which act as checkpoints; additional time is awarded when the player passes through them.
These tollbooths can also be seen during other race events or in free roam, but serve little purpose outside of tollbooth events. They can, however, be damaged; crashing into a tollbooth destroys it and increases the player's earned cost to state during a pursuit.
The player has a chance to earn a 'Perfect Start' during the race countdown by hitting the optimal rev range before the countdown is completed.
The available selection of tollbooth courses depends on the player's current rank on the Blacklist. A higher rank will unlock more tollbooth courses.
A total of 18 tollbooths are scattered around Rockport:
- Four in Rosewood (all along Highway 99)
- Ten in Camden Beach (of which seven are within Gray Point, one is in Ocean Hills and two are in Point Camden)
- Four in Downtown.
The awarded amount of Bounty and cash is dependent on the player's rank on the Blacklist, their finishing position and if the Rockport Police Department was involved at any point during the event.
