Autolog is an asynchronous multiplayer and player profile suite in Need for Speed: The Run used as a social-competitive network for players to connect, compare, and compete against each other.
Originally introduced in Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (2010), as the result of internal competition during development at Criterion Games, Autolog allows players to compete against their friends across all available platforms through challenges and recommendations.
A series of challenges and competitive suggestions is generated from the player's platform friends list.
Profile[]
A player's Driver Profile is shown to others if they're part of another player's Need for Speed Friends list and in the event standings in multiplayer.
It allows players to change aspects of their profile shown to others - such as icons, backgrounds, and their motto - and also view their personal performance statistics.
Icon[]
The icon for a player is shown on the left of their Driver Profile, and appears during gameplay if their time in an event is an Autolog Recommendation for another player.
Background[]
The background for a player is shown across the Driver Profile, with other elements shown on top of it.
Driver Abilities[]
Driver Abilities are unlocked as players increase their Driver Level through earning experience points (XP).
Each ability adds to the player's potential during events and expedites their experience point rewards.
Awards[]
Awards earned in multiplayer are shown as a collection with the number of times a player has earned each award.
Motto[]
A Motto is shown between the player's username and their Driver Level on a Driver Profile.
Recommendations[]
Recommendations offers a list of events with goals for the player to beat for additional experience points.
The selection of events offered is based on times posted by friends in a player's Need for Speed Friends list. If the player does not have any friends in their Need for Speed Friends list or is playing offline, recommendations are given based on medals they can earn in the Challenge Series.
Friends[]
Friends within Autolog are other players that have also signed into Autolog and can become friends with each other. Split into three sections, the Friends menu allows the player to compare and contrast their performance with other players, as well as view an in-depth selection of statistics for each player.
Friends[]
Friends are players added to the player's own Need for Speed Friends list, which can offer goals for the player based on the performance of their friends in events.
Each friend has a set of statistics outlining their performance and progression:
- Run Stats
- Fastest Run Time: Overall time to complete The Run
- Run Stages Owned: Number of Stages of The Run in which the player has the best time amongst their friends
- Multiplayer Stats
- Average Multiplayer Position: Average finishing position the player has achieved based on all their Sessions.
- Wins: Number of events they have finish in first position
- Podiums: Number of events they have finished within the top three positions
- Challenge Series Stats
- Total Recommendations Beaten: Total number of Autolog Recommendations they have beaten in the Challenge Series
- First Place Ranking on SpeedWall: Total number of Challenge Series events in which the player has the best time amongst their friends
- Times Posted on SpeedWall: Total number of Challenge Series events in which the player has completed and posted a time to Autolog
- Total Medals Earned
: Total number of Challenge Series events completed with a time earning a Bronze Medal
: Total number of Challenge Series events completed with a time earning a Silver Medal
: Total number of Challenge Series events completed with a time earning a Gold Medal
: Total number of Challenge Series events completed with a time earning a Platinum Medal
Friend Recommendations[]
Friend Recommendations offers a list of other mutual players the player may know as friends of friends, and can send them a friend request to be part of their Need for Speed Friends list.
Recent[]
Recent creates a list of recent players the player has competed against in multiplayer. The player can use this list to send any recent players a friend request to join their Need for Speed Friends list.
Gallery[]
Gallery is a collection of the player's photos and their friends' photos. Players can view the images they've captured using photo mode or view and rate images their friends have captured.
Each image in the gallery includes information regarding the name of the player that image belongs to, the location in which it was captured, the number of times it has been viewed, the number of likes it has received, and the name of the most prominent vehicle in the image.
News[]
News lists any recent articles published to the Need for Speed website concerning Need for Speed: The Run, multiplayer, promotions, the Need for Speed community, or upcoming Need for Speed games.
