A Playlist in Need for Speed: Unbound is a multiplayer championship in Lakeshore Online.

Participating in a playlist offers players a chance to earn bank towards their vehicles and character as part of their rank.

Between two to eight players can compete against each other in a playlist and they'll earn points based on their finishing position for each event of their current playlist. Competing in playlists with higher numbers of players will earn more bank and experience points than those with fewer players.

Each playlist has a unique name to differentiate the included selection of events, as well as the sequence they are ran and their performance tier.

Initiation[]

Free Roam[]

NFSUB LakeshoreOnline FreeRoam Small

In free roam, players can join a playlist through various means:

  • Initiating their own playlist by driving to a meetup location and selecting a playlist through the "Playlists" menu.
  • By joining a playlist initiated by another player in the same session through a menu popup.
  • By joining a playlist initiated by the server in the player's current session shown as an "Open Playlist" in a menu popup.

When a playlist is initiated by a player or the server, a thirty second window opens for other players to join that playlist. Players can choose to accept or decline the playlist, including any players that initiated a playlist.

Once the thirty second join window has concluded, a playlist will initiate if two or more players have chosen to join the playlist. If not enough players join a playlist within the join window, it will not initiate.

Meetup[]

Playlists offered at meetup locations can be initiated by any player within a free roam session and are shown to other players with the initiating player's profile image accompanying the playlist menu popup.

Each meetup location offers multiple playlists of varying performance tiers and event types. Upon joining a playlist, players can choose from any of their owned vehicles matching the set performance tier or use a provided loaner car.

A player initiating a playlist can choose to allow either all players in their multiplayer session to join or only those in their party.

The playlist type, name, performance tier, events, and rewards are all shown at each meetup.

Open Playlist[]

Playlists can be occasionally offered by the server as an "Open Playlist" and are shown with a controller icon accompanying the playlist menu popup.

Open Playlists typically offer playlists not available at meetup locations, instead offering playlists reserved for PvP pools.

PvP[]

NFSUB LakeshoreOnline PvP Small

PvP (Player vs. Player) is a multiplayer matchmaking suite offering a weekly rotating selection of playlists and was introduced with the release of Volume 6.

The selection offered includes three weekly rotating pools and a quick race pool, which will place the player in any open slot within any of the three currently active weekly pools.

Points[]

Completing an event within a playlist will add points to a player's standings for that playlist based on their finishing position. Any players that do not reach the finish line once the race end timer has concluded are given a position based on their distance from the finish line.

The player with the most amount of points after the final event of the playlist has concluded is deemed the winner.

1st: +10 pts
2nd: +8 pts
3rd: +6 pts
4th: +5 pts
5th: +4 pts
6th: +3 pts
7th: +2 pts
8th: +1 pts

Cars[]

The selection of cars offered to a player is limited based on the performance tier of a a playlist or the current event in a mixed tier playlist.

For each event in a playlist, players are allowed to choose from their selection of owned cars for which to utilise for the duration of the event. Players can choose different cars for each event of a playlist, as long as they own a car that matches the performance tier associated with that event or playlist.

Provided[]

Some playlists require players to use an offered vehicle for the duration of an event within the playlist or throughout its entirety.

The vehicle offered is tailored for the playlist and has the same performance tier for all players, although some playlists will provide each player with a visual distinct rendition of the provided vehicle to differentiate different players within the event.

Upon completion of the event or playlist - depending on the duration a provided vehicle is required - players are returned to their personal vehicle.

Rentals[]

If a player does not own a car for a specific performance tier, they are given a rental car from Rydell's Rides for the duration of an event.

Drift Playlists[]

Drift Pro Playlists[]

Drag, Endurance, Race, and Rumble Playlists[]

Rewards[]

Players are given rewards based on their total points following the final event in a playlist. Players placing in first, second, and third are shown in a short podium celebration next to their vehicle as they perform their pose animation.

The amount of cash and experience points given to each player is calculated based on the performance tier of the playlist, the total number of players, and a player's overall finishing position.

Boosted[]

A "boosted" playlist offers additional cash and XP rewards upon completing the playlist.

In free roam, a playlist is randomly selected regularly with it being made available for a short period of time and is highlighted with its corresponding meetup location.

In PvP, a single playlist pool is selected weekly with it being highlighted showcasing it offers additional rewards. A different playlist is selected with each weekly rotation of playlist pools.
