Pursuit Tech is a performance part in Need for Speed: Unbound and has a single slot.

All Pursuit Tech items are activated by a player and, when deployed, the item enters a cooldown before it can be deployed again.

They can only be utilised in Hot Pursuit events by pursuit vehicles driven by the cop team or in Lockdown sessions by racers that have picked up Pursuit Tech items with the exception of those riding the BMW S 1000 RR.

For pursuit vehicles, additional Pursuit Tech items and improved item levels are unlocked as the player progresses through their Cop Career. For racer vehicles in a Lockdown session, improved Pursuit Tech items can be acquired from Lockups.

Electromagnetic Field (ESF)[]

Charges your car's body with a static field that reduces damage received and increases damage dealt. Earn Nitrous from dealing damage while active. Allies in proximity earn Nitrous.
— In-game description

Equipping an Electromagnetic Field (ESF) item allows a vehicle to activate a temporary shield around its bodywork.

When an ESF is activated, a shield encompasses the vehicle and its ability to damage other vehicles is buffed alongside being more resistant to receiving damage:

  • Damage: 150%
  • Strength: 212%
  • Toughness: 200%

Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP)[]

Locks onto a target to deliver an electronic payload that briefly disables their engine on a successful hit.
— In-game description

Equipping an Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) item allows a vehicle to activate an electromagnetic burst of energy to a targeted vehicle to temporarily disable it.

When an EMP is activated, the vehicle has fifteen seconds of tracking time and to lock-on to a target vehicle before the EMP is deactivated. If a lock-on is achieved, the vehicle will need to maintain the lock-on for three seconds before the EMP can be fired.

A lock-on is gained if a target vehicle is within fifty metres of the vehicle and within ten degrees of the targeting reticule. A lock-on will be lost if a target vehicle exceeds a range of sixty metres from the vehicle or twenty-five degrees of the targeting reticule, although a lock-on can be regained if enough tracking time remains.

If a lock-on is successfully achieved, the EMP is fired and temporarily disables the target vehicle's engine as well as limiting its steering for a brief period of time. Whilst a target's vehicle is disabled, it will gradually slow down to a stop, but a target can restart their engine within a short period of time.

Spike Strip[]

Drops a spike trip from the back of your car to temporarily burst a target's tyre.
— In-game description

Equipping a Spike Strip item allows a vehicle to deploy spike strips from the rear of their vehicle and can burst a target vehicle's tyres.

When a spike strip is activated, a strip will be ejected from the rear of the vehicle and will automatically extend to its full length.

Any tyres of a racer vehicle that roll over a strip will burst and cause damage to the vehicle. A strip can burst all tyres for a vehicle and will remain placed for sixty seconds after being deployed.
