Style Points in Need for Speed: Underground are rewarded to the player for performing driving stunts and being competitive in race events. Accumulating a certain total of style points will unlock vinyls and car presets.
Performing some style point actions will enable a multiplier for that action the more often the player can repeat it. Crashing into an obstacle such as a traffic vehicle or wall will reset the multiplier for some actions.
The Racebreaker feature in Need for Speed: Underground 2 uses similar gameplay mechanics to that of style points.

Continous repeating of the action will increase mutiplier by +1 until the max. multiplier of that action is reached. Missing the action will reset the multiplier of that action.
Continuous actions[]
The style points of these actions will increase the longer they are performed, but will end if the player does not repeat them within a short period of time.
- Hangtime: Perform a big jump - the longer the car is in the air, the more style points
- Powerslide: Perform a drift - the longer the drift, the more style points
- Drafting: Stay in the slipstream of an opponent - the longer the draft, the more style points
- Bonus Zone (Drift): Stay in the Bonus Zone while Drifting - the longer the drift is in the Bonus Zone, the more style points
