Need for Speed: Underground (GBA) is a handheld alternative release of Need for Speed: Underground for Game Boy Advance.
It was made available shortly after the GameCube, PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC with a release in North America on December 18, 2003, and in Europe on January 16, 2004.
Features[]
- Four different race modes
- 14 different cars
- One-slot cartridge save
- Link cable support for 4 players
Gameplay[]
The Game Boy Advance release is based off of the same game play design as other releases. Players are given the opportunity to challenge opponents to different race events and earn cash that can be spent on upgrades.
Compared to other releases, the Game Boy Advance release has more restrictions on controls due to the lack of an action button on the Game Boy Advance. By default, players can utilise automatic transmission and not worry about shifting gears, which allows the nitro-boost and powersliding functions to be linked to the shoulder buttons, but players also have the option to switch to manual transmission if preferred.
Cars[]
A garage of 14 different licenced vehicles includes Toyota, Ford, Acura, Nissan, Volkswagen, Mitsubishi, Mazda, and Subaru. These cars can all be applied with performance and visuals such as bumpers, decals, rims, vinyls, paint, and much more. More extras are unlocked the further players progress through the career.
Soundtrack[]
The Game Boy Advance release features four songs based on a small selection of the soundtrack: "Doomsday", "The Only", "Sucked In", and "Get Low".
