Precision Immobilization Technique (or P.I.T.) is a technique used to end police chases quickly by spinning a vehicle sideways or backwards, usually directed towards a wall or a roadblock. At higher heat levels, the police will use this tactic more frequently.

In Need for Speed: Most Wanted and Need for Speed: Carbon, this technique is used by any police unit, even though Police Civic Cruisers may not effectively perform such due to their low curb weight. In Need for Speed: Undercover, when a police unit attempts to perform a PIT maneuver, they are assisted by another unit to increase the potency of it.

PITs can also be used in Need for Speed: The Run on race rivals and police.
