Template:InfoboxCar2The 2005-2006 Pontiac GTO is a two-door coupe manufactured by Pontiac. In comparison with the 2004 Pontiac GTO, it is featured with two hood scoops and split rear exhausts. The 5.7L LS1 V8 found in the earlier model was replaced with a 6.0L LS2 V8.

The GTO designation is an Italian abbrevation for Gran Turismo Omologato (Grand Tourer Homologated), which means that it is officially certified for racing in the Grand Tourer class.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted

The Pontiac GTO is unlocked after defeating Blacklist Racer Baron and can be purchased for $35,000.

The GTO has a a high kerb weight, making its sluggish handling comparable to that of other large cars such as the Audi A4 and Cadillac CTS. It has excellent acceleration and a decent top speed but its British equivalent - the Vauxhall Monaro VXR - has similar performance statistics as well as better handling. The GTO's overall performance is also similar to the Ford Mustang GT, although if both cars are equipped with Ultimate-level parts then the Mustang will have better performance than the GTO.

The GTO may be lacking during a later stage of the career mode, although it is durable in pursuits. The weight of the car can prove to be useful for ramming police cars and other obstacles found in this game mode.

The storyline character Rog is seen driving a red and black coloured Pontiac GTO during the beginning of the career mode.

Need for Speed: Carbon

The Pontiac GTO appears in Need for Speed: Carbon as a Tier 2 Muscle car. It is usable in Quick Race only and is unlocked after completing an online reward card as the stock variant and as a modified variant with no performance upgrades.

The Pontiac GTO is notable for its quick acceleration and overall performance, which is better than seen by a stock Vauxhall Monaro VXR and Ford Mustang GT.

Need for Speed: ProStreet

The Pontiac GTO appears in Need for Speed: ProStreet as a Tier 3 car, costing $28,000. It is unlocked upon dominating the Showdown event in Chicago.

In ProStreet, the Pontiac GTO drives very similar to its rendition in Carbon. The high stock horsepower and torque output of the engine allow the GTO to keep up with most Tier 3 rear-wheel drive cars such as the Toyota Supra.

If the player installs the best performance parts available in the game, the GTO's engine may produce 1,000 horsepower. As a result, the car can become a very competitive Drag car, although it is useful in Drift too.

Players can also use a blue Pontiac GTO bonus car with a Grip blueprint in Race Day mode.
