The 1996 Porsche 911 Carrera (993) is the base model of the Porsche 911 series' fourth generation, and a revision model of the 911 Carrera (993) introduced in 1994.
It is powered by an air-cooled 3.6-litre F6 engine which developed 272 hp in the 1994 model, but was revised to develop 285 hp for model year 1996.
The 1996 revision model of the 911 Carrera (993) introduced a new Targa body variant, which for the first time in the 911 series featured a large, electrically adjustable sliding roof made of tinted laminated glass instead of the removable soft top, therefore dispensing the roll-over bar.[1]
