Template:Infobox car The Porsche 959 was a super-car, from which only 337 were produced during 1986 to 1989. It used to be the world's fastest production in the world and used many high-tech components such as an AWD system, hence the 959 competed in Group B racing.

The car was successful in the Paris-Dakar Rally and in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where the racing variant of the 959, the 961 competed.

In the late 1980's the Porsche 959 was often compared with the Ferrari F40, which was intended to compete with 959 in Group B racing.

Overview

Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed

Unlike its real life counterpart, the 959 has heavy understeer and lacks power compared to other Porsches.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (2010)

The 959 is only available in the Porsche Unleashed Pack DLC, which is restricted to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Hot Pursuit. It's classified as Super car.

Need for Speed: World

The Porsche 959 is one of the best in-game cash Tier 3 cars, thanks to its top speed and responsive handling. However, it also tends to oversteer in turns easily. Compared to the BMW M3 GTR the 959 is better in any performance aspect, though it has an inferior nitrous boost and performs worse in pursuits due to its low weight. There are no aftermarket body kits for the car.

The Year One 959 was released simultaneously with the stock vehicle as a celebration of the first anniversary of Need for Speed: World. It is equipped with Gromlen Race Tuned parts and furnished with unique vinyls.
