The Porsche 959 was a supercar, from which only 337 were produced during 1986 to 1989. It used to be the world's fastest production in the world and used many high-tech components such as an AWD system, hence the 959 competed in Group B racing. The car was successful in the Paris-Dakar Rally and in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where the racing variant of the 959, the 961 competed. In the late 1980's the Porsche 959 was often compared with the Ferrari F40, which was intended to compete with 959 in Group B racing.

- On April 26, 2010 the Need for Speed: World Create-A-Porsche 959 Contest was held. Modellers had the chance to send a 959 3D model to the developers of World. The best entry will be eventually put in the game. Later, some players have found several 959 files in the DATA folder.
