Shock and Awe is a Hot Pursuit event featured in Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (2010) and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered, and it is a racer career event.

In Hot Pursuit (2010), the event is unlocked by beating The Prestige, while in Hot Pursuit Remastered, it is unlocked by beating either The Prestige or Experience More. It can be accessed from the Mission Beach racer node on the career map, and is a Performance Series event.

Route[]

The event starts heading east on Hope Canyon Freeway. The racers drive down the entirety of the motorway, after which they turn left at a junction and continue down Silver Creek Road. Shortly after passing the town of Eastwood, the route comes to a junction, at which the racers turn right and continue on Boulder Road. They race through the Boulder National Park and continue towards the end of this road, where the finish line is located.

Briefing[]

"The latest weather reports indicate a storm brewing over the desert: electrical activity has been forecast."

Equipment[]

The player is given two EMPs, four Jammers, and two Spike Strips.

Cars[]

Racer[]

The player's choice of racer vehicle for this event is limited to Performance Series cars:

Racer Suspects[]

There are four racer suspects participating in the event alongside the player.

If the player chooses a vehicle driven by one of the other suspects, that suspect will drive an Audi TT RS instead.

SCPD Units[]

An SCPD Ford Shelby GT500 Highway Patrol unit will be engaged from the start. A Carbon Motors E7 Concept Highway Patrol unit will engage in pursuit along Hope Canyon Freeway (8.5 miles remaining). A Jaguar XKR Highway Patrol unit will engage from Eastwood (4.7 miles remaining). Additional units will engage in pursuit if the previous units are taken out or evaded. Most of these units will use Roadblocks and Spike Strips, but the Jaguar XKR unit will use EMPs.

In Hot Pursuit Remastered, the Carbon Motors E7 Concept police unit is replaced with an Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione unit.
