Nitrous boost is the most lacking trait of the WRX STI. This is compensated by quick acceleration. It can outrun most B Class cars including the [[Mazda RX-8 (2003)|Mazda RX-8]] in [[Need for Speed: World/Drag|Drag events]]. The WRX STI also has responsive handling and sufficient traction at any speed because of being AWD. Standard top speed is 161 mph (259 km/h). The SpeedBoost variant hits 189 mph (305 km/h) as top speed.

Template:InfoboxCar2The Subaru Impreza WRX STI (GR) is the successor to the GD Impreza.

Production started in 2008. The GR was initially offered only as a hatchback, featuring larger fenders than seen in the previous generation models.

Thanks to a larger intercooler, higher turbo boost (14,9 psi), and the new Active Valve Control System (AVCS), which controls both intake and exhaust values, the GR is capable of better road performance than its predecessors.

The WRX STI received a slightly redesigned exterior in model year 2011.

Need for Speed: World

Template:NFSWlink The 2008 Impreza WRX STI Hatchback was added to Need for Speed: World on October 25th, 2011 as a Tier 2 car for SpeedBoost. Since August 22nd, 2012, it has been featured as a Class B car and purchaseable for in-game cash, too. On March 19th, 2013, the in-game cash variant was retired.

The WRX STI is purchaseable in two variations. It can be bought with pre-installed Amerikon Speedsystems Street Tuned parts, which give it a 581 overall rating. It costs SpeedBoost3,400. The in-game cash variant has a 518 overall rating and B Class rating. It costed Dollar icon1,100,000. Both variants are upgradeable to A Class.

Nitrous boost is the most lacking trait of the WRX STI. This is compensated by quick acceleration. It can outrun most B Class cars including the Mazda RX-8 in Drag events. The WRX STI also has responsive handling and sufficient traction at any speed because of being AWD. Standard top speed is 161 mph (259 km/h). The SpeedBoost variant hits 189 mph (305 km/h) as top speed.

The WRX STI is one of the best in-game cash purchaseable vehicles because of its driving traits, which makes it useful for any game mode. However, it may be less effective against A Class, since these cars usually have more power.

Special Variants

On December 2nd, 2011, an Art Director variant, the "All Terrain", was added to the game. It is equipped with Gromlen Race Tuned parts, 2-star Skill Mods, a series of Aftermarket Parts and is customised with lime vinyls resembling the livery of the Subaru World Rally Team.

The All Terrain competes in A Class with an overall rating of 611 and has a top speed of 199 mph (320 km/h). It is purchaseable for SpeedBoost3,700.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (2010)

The 2008 Impreza WRX STI appears in Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (2010) as a Sports class racer car and Traffic Police unit. SCPD players have to collect 5,000 bounty points to get the car, whilst racers need 118,000 bounty points.

In Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, the WRX STI has a notable acceleration, pursuit durability and good steering, making it one of the best cars in the Sports/Traffic Police category.

Need for Speed: The Run

The 2008 Impreza WRX appears in Need for Speed: The Run as Tier 2 car, which is unlocked to the player upon beating six Autolog recommendations. There are also two modified variants of the car, namely the "NFS Edition" (Tier 4) and "Scroundel Signature Edition" (Tier 5).

The Tier 4 version is unlocked once 10 Objectives in the NFS Edition Playlist are beaten. The "Scroundel Signature Edition" is featured in the Signature Edition Booster Pack downloadable content.

The NFS Edition and standard variant have a "Normal" handling rating. The Scroundel Signature Edition possesses an "Easy" rating.

The WRX STI in any variation has a high top speed and quick acceleration, despite the fact that the Tier 4 and Tier 5 versions have smaller power output than some of their rivals. They also have a controllable handling, making them valuable choices for any race event.

Trivia

  • The Impreza WRX STI has a 7-speed transmission Hot Pursuit (2010).
