There was a new racing mode called "Team Trials" and was added with the Update 6.

Notes about "Team Trials"

Its key objective is to provide a multiplayer environment where the participants work together to acheive their rewards, instead of competing against each other for them. Each racer should feel encouraged to drive as fast and as cleanly as possible and all should reach the finish line. There is no motivation for dirty driving tactics - blocking, slamming, nudging, etc. - because the goal is for all players to drive their best and maximize the group benefit.

This would be the explanation for the page about the mode.

Each racer will attempt to beat the standard Time Trial qualifying time ("par time") for the chosen track, while racing as a group. This is where clean racing becomes very important. 79.202.130.152 19:44, July 25, 2013 (UTC)

You mean like a source? I hope this link will work, I was randomly going thru the old Update_log file in mco folder which documents the Update Notices (like on the website) for all updates, checked out wayback and there you go.
