Top Gear is an award winning British television series mostly focusing on cars. The show has been aired since 1977 and was relaunched in current format in 2002. The show's presenters are currently Jeremy Clarkson (also known as 'Jezza'), Richard Hammond (also known as 'The Hamster') and James May (also known as 'Captain Slow'). The humour, criticism and special episodes appearing in the refocused TV show is estimated to have earned over 350 million viewers around the globe.

As of 2007 and beyond, an Australian Top Gear series has been aired as well as an American version. Both however haven't received as high of an acclaim amongst viewers as the original British version has.  Furthermore, the Australian version was cancelled in 2011.

Other spin-offs of the UK format include Top Gear Russia, introduced in 2009, and Top Gear South Korea, which was introduced in 2011.

Role in Need for Speed[]

Need for Speed: World[]

In November 2010, a race event in Need for Speed: World was shortly presented known as the 'Top Gear Challenge'. This challenge was conceived to celebrate the debut of Top Gear USA. Anyone who participated in the race had the chance to win an Alienware laptop or Apple iPad. Also during that time those on IGN were also given the chance to earn a free code from which only 10.000 of those gamers could win a Top Gear Starter Pack featuring a Top Gear USA themed Corvette, Speedboost and Powerups.
