Treasure Hunt is an item collection game mode available during the free roam game play of Need for Speed: World. It was added to the game with a patch on June 28, 2011.
Treasure Hunt involves the player collecting fifteen gems found within a given area of the World. A player can only collect all the gems once a day.
A large gem with a green radius displays to players where the largest and only concentration of collectable gems are situated. Players can see this by pressing M and scrolling across the map to the highlighted location.
Each gem is displayed to the player via their mini-map upon entering a close radius it. A series of green bars displays the player's radius to a gem as well as the general direction of its location.
Players are given a large amount of XP points and in-game cash upon collecting all 15 gems on a given day.
Treasure Hunt 2.0[]
Reward cards were added to Treasure Hunt along side streaks with a patch released on November 16th, 2011.
The streaks enable players to earn greater rewards so long as they complete treasure hunts on a series of consecutive days. Players can obtain performance parts of any rarity and power-ups on specific days with rewards being randomly generated after their 19th day in a streak.
Since June 12th, 2012, power-up rewards have been replaced by skill mods. Their type and star rating are randomly chosen by the game.
Players will lose a streak if they fail to complete a treasure hunt a day after completing a previous hunt. Players will have to reset their current streak if they wish to regain awards although they restore a streak at the price of 500 SpeedBoost.
