Works Conversion (known as Works) is an upgrade that are exclusively featured in Need for Speed: Shift and Shift 2: Unleashed.

This upgrade will be completely converting a production model cars into a straight-up modified race cars. Upgrades that will be installed including race-level cockpit, bodykits, full racing slicks, easier throttle control, and more.

These upgrades can only be installed on any Works conversion capable cars and must have all available upgrades installed.

Works conversion are taking effect immediately and permanently installed for converted cars which cannot be sold back, meaning that Players have to sold the Works-converted car entirely. A purchase of Works kit will also removes any Drag spec and Nitrous upgrades installed .

Works conversion is also required to enter events that have a Works car requirement.

Need for Speed: Shift[]

In Need for Speed: Shift, Works upgrade is only available to some cars within Tier 1 - Tier 3 range that have the Works icon. To buy a Works kit, players need to buy all upgrades available, including the nitrous and any bodykits available. Once all upgrade meters for Engine, Aero, and Race parts are completely filled, a Works kit is available to buy.

Shift 2: Unleashed[]

In Shift 2: Unleashed, the number of cars that can be Works converted has now been increased to almost every car available in the game. However, the Works conversion upgrade requirement has now been reduced to at least having the car is equipped with 75% of installed upgrades available for cars that are ranged within D to B performance rank from the very start of the game. Due to A class cars don't have upgrades available, they are already having 100% Works conversion progress, which players can buy instantly after obtaining the car, with the exceptions are the Legends DLC, Speedhunters DLC, and the Shelby Cobra 427 cars. Purchasing Works conversion also removes both nitrous and drag upgrades.
